Some Cards for my awesome Dad's

I am fortunate to have two wonderful Dad's in my life!  I know Father's Day is kinda outdated now, but I have not actually seen my fathers to give them their cards yet!  So its not out-dated to me!  Yay this weekend I will see both of them!  My father who mainly raised my brother and I, has always been been my "go-to" parent, I love him dearly and although he is a very busy man, we always pick up where we left off, and when I need to talk he is always right there, even if that means we talk by phone!  He has always supported my decisions, even if he did not agree they were the best ones.  He has always been there "no matter what", truly that is what makes him my AWESOME DAD!

This is the card for Step-DAD, I love him dearly as well and for different reasons.  Entirely due to me, we had a rough start a long time ago, I made it hard for he and I to get close.  He was persistent on being the great guy that he is and we are now friends.  He has been a wonderful support for me thru think and thin and he is one heck of a Grandpa to my children.  Thanks GG!

Boys Rule

I am loving the way this page turned out!  So much fun, I had been so busy this past week I had not scrapped, I sat down last night a pulled this off in less than an hour, phew that felt good!
I used products from a kit I picked up from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits at Scrapfest in Kitchener back in April.  The patterned paper and stickers; Simple Stories, brads; BoBunny, the stickers; Basic Grey and the Die; is by Memory box, it was purchased from Scrapn with Flair!

Challenge 6 - Hunting for Eggs

Phew I was a little late getting this up, yikes what a crazy week!  Check out all the great looking pages of inspiration at Color-Me-Scrappy and play along with the challenge.  This month there is a mystery bag full of goodies!  Working with a colour palette is really fun, you can combine it with your favourite sketch site to really push the envelope!  Have fun ladies and happy crafting!
These colours did not seem hard to me but once I started I became challenged as to how I would get that red in the page!  Nothing like a ribbon flower to fix that! I complimented it with some red letters and a touch of red in the circle paper.  I used CTMH cardstock and patterned paper, Core'dinations embossed, cardstock, Jillybean Soup patterned paper, CTMH shaped acrylic and chipboard shapes. American Crafts and basic Grey letters, CTMH ribbon, rub-ons and brads, Maya Road Button and Fabircland cording trim.

I made these flowers with ribbon and a hot glue gun.

This was an embroidery floss bracelet my bonus daughter made and I twisted
it up to make this cute button embellie!

Scrapn With Flair Mini Album and Masking Technique Tutorial!

This is my first tutorial and my third creation with the Scrapn With Flair June Kit this kit is full of fantastic goodies from FabScraps (paper and a min-album) and I am Roses (flowers) plus some other add-ins like an assortment of trim and lace.  At last check with Leanne at the store there are still some left so be sure to click on the link above to purchase one before they are all gone...

I have featured the Mini Album finished product first and the tutorial on masking will follow...

Cover
The chip board FabScraps Mini Album came bare with the cutouts you see here and the decorative chipboard die cut on the lefthand side.  I covered it with the paper from the kit.  Everything you see in the next series of photos is from the kit with the exception of the stamps, the ribbon on the album rings (left) and the cutie pictures of my ballerina!  Everything else came from or was made with the products in the kit!

Detail of embellishments, flower and trim.  I just love the metal accents :)

This is the inside of the first page, there was not much to work with on the inside of the cover so I covered it with gesso and stamped a script stamp randomly around the page, then when dry I added some ink to provide some colour in the script impression.  The silhouette is from the masking technique which I will cover later in this post!  The fan flower is provided in the kit (some assembly required...glue dots are your friend!)

Detail of the I am Roses that I coloured with Lindy Stamp Gang mist, I added a second colour with a  bingo dauber applicator connected to a different Lindys Ink to get the more red tips.  I also made a paper flower by cutting a spiral out of some scraps of paper from the kit.

Page 3 and 4: The pearls, trim, jewels and stickers you see here all came from the kit.  The ribbon on the tag did not.

Here is a close-up of the tag I made using some paper scraps from the kit.  The stamped images of the dancer and phrases is all from a Close to My Heart stamp.

Page 5 and 6: Again some great embellies from the kit including yet another fan flower, more trim, and jewels!  I carefully covered the faces of the dancers for their protection.

A detail of some more tags, again the ribbon on the tags are from my own supplies!

This is the back cover!

TUTORIAL ON MASKING

An age old technique in scrap-land but one that can be used again and again, and often gets forgotten.  So  lets back up the train to simple for the next few photos and see how this simple technique can really make a scene!

First: lay stamp down on the page or area that you want to mask.

Then you use any type of mist, for this, I used Lindy Stamp Gang.  It has some great colours and wonderful finish with a nice shine to it!

Spray on the mist.

Then remove the stamp, let it dry.

For this next step I am going to proceed on a different page of the book, where I used this same technique on a paper page, vs the textured page on the previous image.
So here you see the silhouette of the dancer, this image shows how it looks when the mist is dry.

Next step, stamping in the shadow left from the mask technique.  Take the same stamp used for the mask technique place it on a block and get it inked up!

Stamp the inked image in the silhouette left from the masking. Centred

And then you have a stamped image with a glow around it!
Beautiful.

I used this technique throughout this book!  Go to ScrapnwithFlair to order yours!

Bliss

And....another Layout with my fantastic new ScrapnwithFlair June Kit, can I just say WOW it is soooo pretty with such a great mix of products.  Be sure to check out the site for more details on the kit its only $35 and stay tuned for more fun posts I made a ton of stuff with this kit!

The kit features products from FabScraps and an assortment of embellies

I used a fun technique here with Gesso and a script stamp, you apply the gesso to the surface of some paper, then wait a minute and then stamp it with a script stamp.  Then I used some spray mist to get into the grooves of the impression made with the stamp!  This is a great technique introduced to me by Vicki Boutin at Crop and Create, I have used it in many different forms since I learned how and it really is a great way to make some texture on an embellishment!

Amazing...

Here is some fun I had with some leftovers of my Boys Rule kit!  The echo park Paper featured in this kit was really fun to work with and great for boys!

The view finder is pretty awesome!

I have been working on my friends wedding album and I had to use some of this paper for her book the colours matched perfectly!  All of the products in the layout were from the kit!  I coloured the flowers with Lindy's stamp gang mist, soooo pretty!  The word Love was cut out with the cricut!

Proud of My Hockey Star

Challenge #5 at Color-me-scrappy.blogspot.com has some great colours for you to try.  This one was not my "go-to" colours so certainly a challenge to make it work!  I used a couple snips from an old batch of Authentique.  Most of the paper and the brads are Karen Foster, JillyBean Soup chipboard letters and a hockey stick all from a BoysRule hockey themed kit I picked up at Scrapfest! LOVE IT!  I added some ribbon from my stash some CTMH twine, stamp and tag.  I hope you can all be challenged too at Color-Me-Scrappy, try out a challenge and win a prize, it is seriously fun to try to work with a colour palette, so try it out!
