Great Team!!!

I absolutely love this palette, it was so bright and fun, my jellybean soup paper went perfect with it!!!  I also used an embellishment I made a long time ago at a class with Maya Road founder Christine Lau, love Maya Roads products so that was uber fun!  Be sure to check out the other teams work at www.color-me-scrappy.blogspot.com they have some awesome inspiration!!! SWEET!

Color-me-scrappy.blogspot.com 's challenge #22 WOW! This one was a challenge as well but this time more a challenge of time, I don't know about you but I am soooo busy with the season.  Anyway it is all over so fast so lets enjoy it right.  Inspired by the cookies I did a Christmas themes page.  My bonus daughter Montana was so excited to get $50 for Christmas last year I just love her face in this picture.  I used some great paper from Tim Holtz, Close to My Heart Cardstock, burlap and ribbon and the rest is CM paper and embellies!

Perfect 1

Color-Me-Scrappy Challenge #14.  This is a great fun pallet to work with, honestly I used my cell phone for the colours and it seemed that the blue was much brighter than my interpretation, however I am still please with the way it turned out!!!!  I love the flowers that I used, the were found in my very large flower collection however I am not sure that I know where they came form so if you love them too...I am sorry that Ido not know where to send you to find some!!! I used  Little Yellow Bicycle patterned paper, Close to My Heart cardstock and ribbon, Studio Callico Washi Tape , Creative Memories Jewels, American Crafts letters, Maya Road pins, and unknown buttons.

Grand Slam

Here is my interpretation of the colour palette for Challenge #13 at Color-Me-Scrappy  I thought these colours worked so well with Carter and Sienna's T-Ball photos.  

I used a variety of product leftovers I had kicking around, have you ever created a page with all the leftovers? It is very "freeing" to release yourself from little pieces of left-over bits!!!!

Products used, Close to My Heart paper, kraft strips, brads, canvas stickers and cardstock, Maya Road pocket, Simple Stories stickers, I am Roses and Prima flowers, Jillybean Soup Monograms and Tombo adhesive

FUN LOVE with my kids....picking berries

This has got to be one of my most random pages EVER!  This is my take on Challenge #10 at Color-Me-Scrappy  I have to say that these are not colours I would have used together at all, so "challenge" this was indeed!  It's weird because although it is random, I really like it!  I guess it's because I love all the "stuff" on it despite, the fact that it doesn't really "go" together, it's kind of like the "awkward geek" we all knew in high-school ( or maybe you were the awkward geek...I am not judging at all, I was friends with lots of geeks!), underneath their outward odd-ness they are really great people to know, in fact some of my better friends to this day!!!  That is what this page is to me awkward but GREAT!  Great, because this day was a very special day last year about a week after we moved away and it was a day that we spent being a new family of three. Sounds kind of sad, sure it was, but it was a lot of good too!

Sienna is all those things... I loved this colour pallet from Color-Me-Scrappy challenge site!  This one has got to be my favourite so far!  Be sure to try these colours out and play along for prizes!  A great idea is to combine a colour pallet with a sketch site like, Sketches in Thyme, this can really make the challenge fun! 
It was a great mix of colours and totally my style.....bright!

I used core'dinations cardstock, Harmonie die cuts, brads and decorative paper.  I used a memory box die to cut the swirls that i picked up at Scrap'n With Flair online store!  The flower I made with some trim from Fabricland and some bling form Maya Road.

Art Journal Canvas

Well I was resistant at first and I don't know why...I had not tried this "art journalling" before and I was provided a prefect combination of opportunity and inspiration from my co-designers at Scrap'n With Flair (those ladies are so talented) and the Art on the Severn Art Show I help organize decided to have some committee members show their work as well.

I used the Scrap'n With Flair July Plumeria Kit and some old canvases I had kicking around!  I also used mat gel medium and gesso to get the first few layers down.  Then added some great embellies some from my stash but most of the flowers, bling, pearls, jewels and trim were from the add-on kit. Then I played with adding some colour by using inks that came in the kit and some acrylic paint.

My partner and I just bought a house so we are going to put these in our new living room!

Challenge 6 - Hunting for Eggs

Phew I was a little late getting this up, yikes what a crazy week!  Check out all the great looking pages of inspiration at Color-Me-Scrappy and play along with the challenge.  This month there is a mystery bag full of goodies!  Working with a colour palette is really fun, you can combine it with your favourite sketch site to really push the envelope!  Have fun ladies and happy crafting! 

 These colours did not seem hard to me but once I started I became challenged as to how I would get that red in the page!  Nothing like a ribbon flower to fix that! I complimented it with some red letters and a touch of red in the circle paper.  I used CTMH cardstock and patterned paper, Core'dinations embossed, cardstock, Jillybean Soup patterned paper, CTMH shaped acrylic and chipboard shapes. American Crafts and basic Grey letters, CTMH ribbon, rub-ons and brads, Maya Road Button and Fabircland cording trim.

I made these flowers with ribbon and a hot glue gun.

Flower Swap

OHHH this was fun!  I am participating in my first ever flower swap run by Elysia at http://mischievouscrafts.blogspot.ca/.  She matched me up with a partner Amy Yingling at http://amythecraftybooknerd.blogspot.ca/  I am new at this so I was a bit nervous, yikes!  Anyway put the flowers in the mail today I hope she likes what i made... Here they are:

I did not make a box to put them in, i was pressed for time, sorry Amy, but I did make more than the 12 that were required!  I have to say this was all really fun and I will for sure to this again.

Scrapn with Flair

Embellishment Idea Binder!

Oh wow this is exciting this is my first post for Scrapn’ With Flair!  I am even a bit nervous…wow!  Anyway nice to meet everyone I am a new member of the fabulous design team.   The team has all been diligently working away on some fun stuff with the FABulous June kits but I cannot share that with you yet!  Shhhh!

I attended Scrapfest in Kitchener, ON and took an Embellishment class taught by Caroline Lau.  Caroline is the the co-founder of Maya Road, and I just love everything they touch!  In Caroline’s class we created an embellishment idea binder using Maya Road products.  The binder came with 6 pieces of chip-board but we only used 4 (both sides) for the class.  Using the two leftover pieces of chipboard, the snips of leftover supplies and a touch of inspiration from Caroline, the following pieces are what I came up with!

Above is a side view of the binder, it is made of acrylic and stands on its own, the pages are made of chip-board so they are sturdy and easy to work on.

If you have ever worked with zipper strips, then you will know they are a ton of fun, if not I highly recommend it!  Basically you use hot glue and a round piece of chip-board approximately 1″ to 2″in diameter, the larger the circle the larger your zipper flower will be.   You make a small spiral at the end and pince it with your fingers (this will be your centre of the flower) then hot glue that to your chip-board.  Then continue to wrap the zipper around the centre gluing it every 1/2 inch.  When you have completely covered your chipboard you tuck the end under and done!  So easy!  Watch your fingers on the glue…ouch!  I mounted this to a crouched flower and then to kraft shape.  Added some vintage pins….love those and done!

For this page I used some leftover vintage measuring tape and created this flower in a very similar way as I created the zipper flower ( seriously ouch on the hot glue tho, be careful!).  Then I added some other fun stuff I picked up at Scrapfest!  I coloured the “xoxo” chip-board with Smouch accent paint and also drew the heart on the wood shape in the paint as well.  Then I added liquid glass to the letters (ha – make your own epoxy’s WOW) The best part is that with the metallic shine of the Smouch paint the liquid glass ( or diamond glaze…. tomato – tamato) really makes it shine!!

And now it gets crazy…I decided to create another flower using the same basic technique as with the measuring tape flower, this time with burlap.  The burlap looked a little yucky in the centre so I wrapped a wood shape in burlap to create a burlap button and placed it in the centre.  Sooo much fun making embellishments, but I still had one more page so…

I had been saving bread tags (just one of those weird things you think you might need when crafting) so off to my stash!  I arranged them and hot glued them down…um ouch! I added a button and a Maya Road flower, and some ribbon to complete the look.  I like this one the best!
